Passive Solar and Green Design

The Tahoe-Truckee area is one of the world's best for passive solar due to its great sun exposure, increased solar efficiency due to the altitude and clean air, reflection off the surface snow, and heavy heating demands. We endeavor to make every design more efficient using direct and indirect solar gain principles. Dave Shelton is a pioneer in the passive solar area, and a passive solar advocate. Several of the areas more successful passive solar homes were designed by Dave, and he has taught hundreds of students passive solar design through the local community college. Dave Shelton is a LEED accredited "green building" professional, as is Eric Bacon.

Shelton & Bacon is familiar with most types of green building strategies. We can design, or assist with designs for: Passive and active solar systems, building integrated photovoltaics, ground source heat pumps, solar hot water heating, and living roofs, just to name a few.
