Shelton & Bacon is an Architectural and Civil Engineering Firm located in Tahoe City, California. Shelton & Bacon is the successor firm to Shelton & Associates, which was founded in 1979 by David Shelton. The current owner and principal of Shelton & Bacon is Eric Bacon, who is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business; David Shelton is involved with the company as a half-time consultant and advisor. We have been involved with the design or analysis of over 3000 projects in the Sierras and Lake Tahoe area. For over 28 years we have specialized in new and remodeled residences and small commercial buildings. In an area where structure and design are intertwined, Shelton & Bacon offers the services of a professional engineer and licensed architect. Our projects have included everything from modest remodels of just a few square feet to the most opulent residences of up to 16,000 square feet and everything in between.

We offer our clients a full range of services including civil and architectural engineering, architectural design, agency processing and advice, BMP design, hand and computer aided drafting, energy calculations, preparation of specifications, site plan preparation, contractor referral, bid and contract assistance, and construction observation.

Shelton & Bacon offers a complete residential design service under one roof. We have a licensed architect and licensed engineer in house, as well as computer aided drafting. We offer the latest in computer-aided design, with the ability to create three-dimensional models that you can “fly by” or “walk through” - we can even add flooring, wall finishes, and landscaping to the model!  We do everything necessary to obtain a building permit with the exception of land surveys and geotechnical investigations (should you need either one, contact us for more information). Our ability to complete the entire project in-house adds value by eliminating costly communication errors and delays between separate consultants.
